Your Name, Age, Gender and Location: Calvin, 24, Male, UK

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
Hi, my name is Calvin (24) and I am from London, UK. I have been playing WoW on and off since TBC (when I was 10 lol) but have I have recently taken the game more seriously after finishing my university studies and securing a full time job in financial services in London. I am currently maining a MM Hunter - 225ilvl, majority BIS stats and socketed (still farming stygia sadge). I returned to the game in a more serious manner in Feb 2020 due to the coronavirus lockdown. Outside of the game I am a keen traveller (18 countries in 2 years) and avid cyclist.

Character Information:

Armory Link: ... ak/Onikage

Battletag: EmperorChen#2720

Describe your choice of talents and why you've chosen them:

- Master Marksman - chosen as Serpent Sting baked into MM Legendary and a Murder of Crows underperforming for Raids
- Careful Aim (AOE: Explosive Shot) - interchangeable depending on encounter type (mainly ST or AOE)
- Natural Mending - fights with a movement mechanic Trailblazer can be used e.g. running seeds on Xy'mox
- Steady Focus (AOE: Streamline, consistent 2 target: Chimera Shot) - all 3 viable although typically SF and SL used for ST and AOE respectively
- Posthaste - very helpful movement speed increase on disengage although for fights with specific timings of immunities Born to be Wild can be used to reduce cooldown on turtle e.g. Lady Darkvein
- Double Tap - overall sims the best for both ST and AOE
- Lock and Load (AOE: Volley) - again interchangeable depending on encounter type although with recently 9.0.5 changes a new 'Trueshot' build is possibly viable with Calling the Shots + Trueshot conduit

How do you prioritize your stats and why?
As a MM Hunter our stat priority is as follows: Crit -> Mastery -> Vers/Haste. My gear currently consists of maintaining 32%+ Crit with Haste levels around 10% in order to not have excessively slow GCDs.

Where do you acquire knowledge about your Class?
Mainly from either class guides on IcyVeins and the Trueshot Lodge Hunter Discord.

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experience:
In terms of mythic raiding, my first experience admittedly is in Nyalotha (casual player before) which is very recent but in my defence since I started I have made a lot of progress as a raider in terms of mental attitude and ability which led to my first CE in Nyalotha too. Moving into Shadowlands I went in blasting and achieved good progress and decent logs so far. I'm looking to continue this trajectory of growth and aim for a CE World 500 within the next few tiers as a bare minimum.

Tell us about your previous guilds and your reasons for leaving them:
<BMT> - Raided 12/12M Nyalotha and 6/10 Castle Nathria - disbanded Feb 2021 due to lack of interest from officers to continue.

<SINS> - Downed Sludgefist in roughly 50 pulls with them (logs can be provided) - currently 200+ pulls deep into SLG with no significant progress made in the past few weeks given the amount of preparation and contribution I have put into the guild and encounter. I strongly feel my time and skill can be better utilised elsewhere.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
Yes - no foreseeable events that would cause issues.

We also raid on Sunday at the start of a new raiding tier. Are you aware of this?
Yes - I am comfortable with this as my previous guild BMT has done the same.

Are you able to Listen and Speak on Teamspeak?

What qualities do you bring to a Raid?
I bring a player with a strong mental attitude and focus to play at his best in order to facilitate effective progress. I study as much information as I can (e.g. logs, PoVs, guides) to understand how I can play my class at its fullest potential so that from the first pull I am as prepared for the boss as I am for the kill pull.

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
I am comfortable playing BM as I mained it during 8.3 BFA, survival on the other hand is tricky as I have not played this on a competitive level.

How do you feel about progression raiding?
Progression raiding to me is like playing any team sport. You need to be a team player in order to be successful and you have to be resilient in the face of failure as bosses will typically take numerous pulls to down. It also takes a lot of physical and mental stamina to play at the top of your game especially after demoralising wipes. At the end of the day WoW is still a game and you should come to every raid not because you are forced to but because you want to enjoy blasting bosses with likeminded players.

Where did you hear about Curse of Years and do you know anyone in the guild?
I do not know anyone in the guild and found the guild via its wowprogress page.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
I have chosen to apply to Curse of Years because I am looking for an active guild with professional, competent and dedicated players that can challenge me to play at the best of my ability in order to achieve my personal goal and the guild's goal of clearing current content/achieve CE in a smooth and time efficient manner aiming to achieve great results on a world/realm standing i.e. play smart, not harder.

Do you play outside of raid?
Yes - I maintain a Balance Druid where I do RBGs (2k xp)/M+ (KSM on both) regularly alongside my Hunter.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?

If I am offered a trial, I will commit to:

1) Always strive to perform to my fullest potential and provide strong raid performance as detailed in my logs - I have experience consistently dealing with additional tasks under raid pressure e.g. Huntsman Sinseekers, Xymox Seeds and Council Volley kicks

2) Identify potential areas of improvement for myself - I do not claim to be a 'god' player and thus every raid night I welcome constructive criticism from the raid leader alongside analysing Warcraftlogs, Wipefest and Wowanalyser to highlight how I can improve.

3) Be consistent - Raid attendance from my perspective will not be an issue and I can commit to attending 100% of the upcoming raids according to the guild's raiding schedule listed on Wowprogress due to my current WFH situation.

4) Being up to date with my character as much as possible. This includes completing a minimum 4x M+ 15s to get 226 ilvl vault choices per week, farming stygia for sockets and keeping informed on my class as a whole (playstyle, rotation & buffs/nerfs)

5) Always come to raid as prepared as I can be - this includes studying the upcoming raid encounters strategies (talents, tactics, relevant WAs, etc), sourcing my own consumables (flask/food/oil/runes/armor kits/pots/tomes) and of course with a mental attitude to progress.

If this is of any use to you, my ex-officer Plastlev#8281 (Discord) / Plastlev#2458 (BNET) is willing and able to provide a reference/vouch for me so please do not hesistate to contact him. Any questions please feel free to ask and thanks for considering my application :)

Sorry for the slow response, had Mythic Sire progression with a hunter trialist that we've just passed - probably going to have to pass on this as a result.
