General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location:
Jay, 28, Male, United Kingdom

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
My main interests outside of WoW are Formula 1 (#44!! :)), swimming, and cycling. I have not really followed the Pro Cycling Tour in some time but try to get out on my road bike occasionally. With that said, I am currently training to become a solicitor and so most of my hobbies (outside of WoW) have taken a back seat to this.

What strengths do you feel your class currently brings to the raid?
The biggest strength of playing priest that I have come to personally realise in this past tier is that you have access to two valuable healer specialisations whilst also having access to an acceptable(!) DPS specialisation.

In terms of holy priests specifically; holy priests are extremely proficient at reactive throughput healing and I would suggest this is why it is such a useful progression specialisation where damage patterns are unknown or unfamiliar.

Whilst holy priests' damage has often fallen behind that of other healer specialisations (Kyrian excepted), this is compensated heavily with Power Infusion providing a significant damage increase for select classes. The Fae Guardians cooldown reduction have also proven very useful in buffing other classes in this expansion.

And finally, to state the obvious; holy priests are well known for their blanket raid wide healing cooldowns in the form of Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation but I would also argue that Symbol of Hope, when properly utilised is an extremely powerful ability and in coordinated groups can significantly reduce the damage taken and refresh defensives in readiness for damage spikes.

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
Extremely comfortable. I am willing to flex between holy and shadow at a moment's notice. I would suggest that discipline is more of a project to work on moving forward into Dragonflight.

I'm not in the habit of taking screenshots in combat but I found this in my folder:

My action bars are hidden but accessible via mouseover on the left side of my screen:

A number of spells (heal, flash heal etc.) are bound using Clique or similar to my mouse.
I'm happy to provide similar screenshots for my shadow spec if necessary.

My guild is clearing Heroic for the first 3 weeks for those interested in obtaining the mount. We had enough healers so I was playing shadow during Heroic (bar Sun King). We weren't planning on it but we ended up stepping into Mythic to kill 2 bosses for a Mythic vault slot and so for what it's worth here are my logs from that:

Raiding History:

Describe your previous/current raiding experiences / guilds. including reasons for leaving them:
Salty Tears (Sanctum of Domination - Sepulcher of the First Ones)
Salty Tears, being a two-day guild, was my first guild in which the raiders demonstrated a strong aptitude for getting the most out of each raiding hour. I endured SoD as a shadow priest before filling the need for a healer in SoFO in my capacity as a holy priest for Anduin onwards. Salty Tears is not raiding (outside of a single Heroic clear in each Fated raid) in Season 4 and I am keen to continue raiding in some capacity. Furthermore, I am continuously looking to improve and I believe surrounding myself with like-minded players to help motivate this improvement is important.

Yeet (Eternal Palace - Castle Nathria)

I raided with Yeet as a shadow priest throughout my time in the guild. During my time in the guild I regularly led raids, researched raid strategies, and prepared raid assignments. The guild was disbanded at the end of Castle Nathria a few weeks before 9.1 was released.

Shield Angels (Battle of Dazar'alor - Eternal Palace)
I started retail WoW towards the end of Battle of Dazar’alor and Shield Angels was my first foray into Mythic raiding. I progressed through Eternal Palace with them up to Queen’s Court before joining Yeet for Za'qul and Queen Azshara to complete the raid.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
Yes. I typically go abroad for a week or two in the summer (I have already been away this summer) and take a week off raiding over the Christmas period. Otherwise there is no reason why I should not be able to maintain 100% raid attendance.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?
Central to my decision to apply is the guild’s raid schedule. It is important to me that I am able to fully commit to each and every raid day on the schedule - particularly with limited raid hours each week.

Additionally, I hope to be surrounded by like-minded players who share the same motivation to maximise each raiding hour and efficiently convert the time spent together inside the raid into kills or meaningful progression with the knowledge that this often requires just as much time (if not moreso) outside of the raid and/or game in preparation.

Do you play much outside of raiding?
Whilst I am sure there are others who spend significantly more time on the game than I do, I login daily and regularly participate in Mythic+, on both my main and various alts that I might be playing at the time, on non-raid days.
Like most people, I am typically more motivated to play at the start of new patches/tiers and my average playtime decreases when progress is over.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?
Moving forward my preference is to continue healing but I do recognise that there is often a lot of value in having a healer who can off-spec DPS when needed. As stated, I am willing to flex between both roles if needed. However, I understand from my brief chat with Nagassh (whose key I rudely interrupted) that the guild currently already has 2 shadow priests so this might not be particularly useful in the immediate future.

Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
