General:

Your Name, Age, Gender and Location: Zach, 21, Male, Essex

Tell us a little bit about yourself (non-WoW related Interests, Hobbies etc)
Outside of wow i work at an outdoor retailer helping build, service and repair bicycles. I work full time and its quite a fun job, if a bit frustrating at times. Outside of work, I mainly spend most of my time playing video games as its what I find the most fun activity for me. Favourite games of mine would include the dark souls series, specifically dark souls 3, rainbow six siege and overwatch, the release of overwatch 2 has me playing that game way more than i should, ana main btw.

Character Information:
my main character is Vaéluslock, a warlock currently on Ragnaros. I've played warlock all of shadowlands, with a little bit of alt play here and there, but my focus has mainly been on warlock. I went from essentially never playing a ranged dps spec before the expansion began to being a good warlock player in a rank 495 guild.

What strengths do you feel your class currently brings to the raid?
Demo: Demo is easily one of the best single target specs in the game with it being one of the better specs to use externals on. it brings a strong cooldown in Demonic Tyrant that is essentially a 60s cd with incredible 2min burst with Grimoire and trinket usages. it has naturally decent stacked cleave with the use of Hand of Gul'Dan and good burst AoE with implosion. in bosses that require more AoE than ST, it can also compete with a legendary swap and a very slight playstyle difference to make Dreadstalkers hit that bit harder which makes a pretty sizable difference. Also anyone that says demo cant target swap is a liar.

Destro: destro right now brings okay single target with incredible sustained aoe. its single target has been hamstrung slightly due to the consistent nerfs its 4set has seen which, even though targeted for AoE dmg, greatly impacted its single target too due to the lack of rain of chaos from your 4 set infernals. its ST can still be more than good enough, but its nowhere near demonology or where it was during S3 prenerf. its AoE really doesnt need talking about if you've played as destro or played with one, with rain of fire spam and wilfreds its a no contest with most other specs in the game for aoe damage. it is also, historically, the best 2 target spec in the game with proper havoc usage, it can do incredible 2 target damage.

Aff: afflictions strongest asset right now is probably spread cleave. its single target is nothing to write home about, and its aoe although acceptable is not as strong as other specs in the class. its a far cry from its dominance in S1, but its ability to do good spread cleave damage (see pantheon early progression) does give it a niche that allows it to see some play on specific bossfights

you cannot talk about warlock without talking about its incredible raid utility. Gateways, healthstones and a CR are all pivotal to warlocks usefulness in a raid environment. not forgetting summoning stones, either!

How comfortable are you playing your offspecs?
I constantly try to learn as much as i can about all my offspecs and play them at the highest level. i have played all 3 specs at a mythic level with great comfort and have no trouble swapping between them as necessary.

Raiding History:
Describe your previous/current raiding experiences / guilds. including reasons for leaving them:
I started mythic raiding in Castle Nathria, and my first mythic bosses were a kill on Council of Blood, a kill on Shriekwing and 200 pulls on SLG. In Sanctum, I joined Prismatic on Draenor, and achieved CE with them at world rank ~1100. I stayed with Prismatic for Sepulcher, and achieved CE with them at WR ~595, and was greatly proud of my performance in that tier, specifically late on where i truly felt i outshone alot of the other dps players in the guild and played multiple classes and specs. At the start of S4, prismatic sadly disbanded and i found myself guildless. I reached out to a friend and managed to secure a trial spot in Sometimes Gifted on Ragnaros. I was with them for roughly a month, and managed to pass my trial with glowing praise from the officer team and GM. However, that guild also sadly disbanded recently, and im once again left guildless.

More Information:

Can you meet our raid schedule of Wed/Thur/Mon 21:00 to 00:00 server time with at least 90% attendance?
this should be no issues for me, as the later than usual raid times should make it fairly easy to achieve this. any issues that i may run into i will always make sure to let the officer team know as far in advance as i can.

What encouraged you to apply to Curse of Years?

the guild is at a world rank that i feel i can play at comfortably and prove myself as a player, and the raid times are rather suited to me personally and i think i would be able to meet them with relative ease.

Do you play much outside of raiding?

outside of raid and during an active part of a patch, i play as much as i can. i enjoy M+, even though i didnt play much in S4 due to the dungeon pool not being very enjoyable for me personally. in S3, i pushed with some people in my guild as a survival hunter. i picked survival due to the group requiring a soothe, and survival was at the time the highest dps that had access to that utility. playing hunter allowed for some skill expression that i had not previously though about and was able to showcase in some keys. things such as pet taunting before a tank mechanic that my tank wouldve died to (abomination tank mechanic in NW) or pet taunting out inspired mobsf from a pack and using exhil and mend pet to keep it alive. skill expressions like this are things i truly enjoy about wow and what i think make it the game it is.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to your application?

if possible, i would love the chance to multiclass, although not an awful thing to not be able to do. it is, again, a form of skill expression that i really enjoy and think its something that would be a positive addition to a raid team and its something i think i could excel at. thank you for taking the time to read :).
